Huish Champflower is a rural village with no shop, pub or other community building other than a small ancient parish church, and has no public transport.

The need is for a financially and environmentally sustainable community centre to replace the existing village hall that has been condemned and will have to be closed by 2017/18. It is located at the edge of the village and will support and foster much greater social interaction, involvement in community affairs and self-help groups that will serve the needs of all in the community, particularly the young, elderly and disabled.

In 2011 Keith Farmer Associates Limited were commissioned to conduct a condition/structural survey of the village hall at Huish Champflower.
